RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airline (PIA) is sending its one third staff on paid leaves from April 16, 2020.

PIA spokesman confirmed that the management of the national flag carrier has directed the HoDs to keep their strength on rotation and prepare paid leaves rosters of their respective staff.

The decision was taken to reduce unnecessary cost being incurred due to unutilized workforce amid Covid-19 crisis that forced airlines across the globe to shrink operations to a minimal level.

According to a notification, PIA staff working in different departments was being sent on paid leaves on rotation basis for 10 days so that the entire staff of the department without any exception availed the paid leaves each month (one third staff for 10 days, then another one third and so on).

The management has directed the heads of the departments to prepare rosters of their respective staff keeping in view of nature of the duty and maintain minimum staff requirement to avert disruption in operation.
