KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) Wednesday acquitted Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Aamir Khan in a double-murder case.

A division bench of SHC set aside the punishment of Aamir Khan and co-accused Tariq Bata in double-murder case in 2004 and ordered their release from jail. Aamir Khan secured the bail from the court in 2009 in the case.

Aamir Khan –then leader of Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi- was charged with abetting of targeted killing of activities of Muttahida Qaumi Movement during the election campaign in 2003.

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) sentenced him along with co-accused to ten-year imprisonment in 2004.
