KARACHI: Deputy Commissioner District South Karachi Irshad Sodhar on Thursday issued Standards Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the traders and shopkeepers to resume their businesses as described in Government of Sindh Home Department’s order dated on April 14.

The SOPs said it will be the sole responsibility of the employer to ensure compliance of all terms and conditions and directions of the provincial government

Businessmen of Lyari, Clifton, Garden, DHA, and Sadder have been asked to submit undertaking (regarding implementation on SOPs, and taking all precautionary measures to avoid the spread of Covid-19 at their respective business jurisdictions) with the concerned Assistant Commissioner office.

Only those businesses are allowed to resume activities which have been notified by the Sindh Government.

The employer will ensure that all the staff be aware of the causes of spread of Covid-19, its related precautionary/preventive measures and its signs/symptoms.

The employer will solely responsible if any of his staff contracts coronavirus and will have to bear all the expenses related to his testing and welfare.

The employer will follow working hours permitted by the Government of Sindh. The employer will ensure that all the measures of social distancing be followed by all staff and visitors.

The employer will have to ensure compliance of all the SOPs provided to him by the office of Deputy Commissioner South and he will paste comply of the undertaking, checklist of SOPs, and details of staff on the checkout counter.

The employer shall regularly disinfect all surface and floor with good disinfectant. The employer shall present himself voluntarily to be tried before the law under the Sindh Epidemic Diseases Act-2014 in case of any violation of SOPs issued from the Home Department.

The employer must provide protective facemasks, hand sanitizers and gloves to the employees, whereas, the workers should keep distance from each other while working.
