Rs65.249bn disbursements made to 5.437m beneficiaries, PM told

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has been informed that overall disbursements of Rs65.249 billion have been made to 5.437 million beneficiaries across the country in categories 1 and 2 under the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme.

The prime minister was being briefed by his special assistant on poverty alleviation following approval of launch of Ehsaas Emergency Cash Information Portal on Wednesday.

The portal will be made public to enable people to access information in real time. The electronic link of this portal will be made available tomorrow morning.

The prime minister was informed that Ehsaas Emergency Cash operations have been ongoing since April 9, 2020 and to-date, overall disbursements of Rs65.249 billion have been made to 5.437 million beneficiaries across the country in categories 1 and 2.

The meeting was informed that Ehsaas regards transparency and integrity as the foremost principle of disbursements.

In this regard, an information portal is being launched.

The dashboards in the portal will give details about the number of beneficiaries served in each of the three categories with provincial, district and tehsil-wise breakup.

The meeting was informed that with the objective of transparency, it will outline the amounts given to partnering banks for disbursements to beneficiaries, and the number of beneficiaries who have taken out money.

Later on, the prime minister also chaired a meeting to review the progress of implementation of the economic stimulus package announced by the government.
