KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali has said that with detection of 287 new cases of the coronavirus in the province the tally has risen to 4,232 while three more patients died taking the total number of deaths to 78.

“The condition of 30 patients is critical, and 14 of them have been put on ventilators,” he said.

The total number of patients who have recovered from the coronaviurs stood at 802.

The chief minister said that the number of cases of the coronavirus was rising in Karachi.

He said that 199 cases out of the 287 new cases were detected in Karachi on Saturday.

As far as other districts were concerned, 17 cases of the coronavirus were detected in Larkana, 13 in Hyderabad, 11 in Shikarpur and seven in Sukkur.

“This is a very serious situation and we will have to adopt the precautionary measures recommended by the WHO and some local experts,” he said.

The chief minister in his message said that the weather had turned hot particularly in the rural areas of the province. Therefore, everyone must keep themselves safe by staying at home.

He urged the people of Sindh to observe social distancing, or else the government facilities would fall short of the growing number of the coronavirus patients.
