Provisional tax collection stands at Rs3.3trn

ISLAMABAD: Despite lockdown and closure of businesses across the country, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has been able to collect Rs242.460 billion during the month of April 2020 against Rs289.905 billion in April 2019, reflecting a decrease of 16.4 percent.

The FBR has provisionally collected Rs3,307 billion during July-April (2019-20) against Rs2,982 billion during same period of last fiscal year, reflecting an increase of 10.9 percent.

A senior FBR official told Business Recorder that the tax machinery is confident to achieve FBR’s revised target of Rs3,908 billion till end June 2020.

The target for the month of April was set at Rs200 billion, the official added.

The FBR has collected Rs242.460 billion during April 2020 against the revised target of Rs200 billion, reflecting an increase of Rs42.46 billion.

The FBR has collected Rs242.460 billion during the month of April 2020 against Rs289.905 billion in April 2019, reflecting a decrease of 16.4 percent.

The FBR has paid refunds of Rs15.119 billion during April 2020 against Rs6.661 billion in April 2019, reflecting an increase of Rs8.458 billion.

The FBR has paid refunds of Rs116.961 billion during July-April (2019-20) against Rs65.150 billion during the same period of last fiscal year, reflecting an increase of Rs51.811 billion.—SOHAIL SARFRAZ
