RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif, on Monday appeared before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the “money-laundering and assets beyond known sources of income” investigations.

Shehbaz appeared before the combined investigation team of Lahore NAB which quizzed him for about two hours.

The NAB team later directed him to reappear on June 2.

Sources in NAB claimed that the PML-N leader did not give satisfactory answers in the investigation. The NAB team called him again on June 2 with more documents, the sources added.

The sources maintained that necessary precautionary measures were made due to COVID-19 situation.

NAB had earlier summoned Shehbaz Sharif to appear before it on April 17 and 22 in the money-laundering investigations, but he skipped his appearance both the time stating that he was a 69-year-old cancer survivor, and medical professionals had advised him to restrict his movement due to life-threatening risks associated with the disease amid the COVID-19 lockdown.
