ISLAMABAD: The government has granted approval to the Ministry of Interior to create 1,257 new posts in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on various cadres (officers/staff BPS-01 to 21).

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Interior, 1,257 new posts will be created on various cadres in the FIA under restructuring of FIA phase-II.

”I am directed to convey the sanction of the President of Pakistan to the creation of the following 1,257 new posts in respect of FIA with immediate effect,” it says.

As per notification out of 1,257 posts, one additional director general BPS-21, seven directors BPS-20, four additional directors BPS-19, 28 deputy directors BPS-18, and 28 are for assistant directors BPS-17.

It further says that three new posts of private secretary BPS-17, seven APS BPS-16, 15 superintendent BPS-16, 97 inspector BPS-16, 10 assistant BPS-15, 121 sub-inspector BPS-14 and 10 steno typist BPS-14 will be created.

Similarly, 12 DEO BPS-12, 11 posts of UDC BPS-11, 252 posts of assistant sub-inspector (ASI) BPS-9, 14 posts of LDC BPS-7, 159 posts of head constable BPS-7, four driver head constable BPS-7, 373 constable BPS-5, 14 constable driver BPS-7, 27 naib qasid BPS-1, 22 sweeper BPS-1, and 10 chokidars BPS-1.

The government had imposed a ban on new recruitments in 2013.

After assuming office, Director General of the FIA Wajid Zia wrote a letter to the government on seeking permission to make new appointments to make the organisation more efficient.
