KARACHI: The Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Lieutenant-General Mohammad Afzal, has said that 700 more ventilators will be provided this month to fight the coronavirus in the country.

He said this while speaking on “Pur Azm Pakistan“, a special transmission by Aaj News.

The special transmission by Aaj TV, which is hosted by Reema Khan and Syed Farhan Ali Waris, is playing a leading role in creating awareness among the people about the coronavirus and the means to fight it.

In the segment on the coronavirus during the special transmission, government functionaries and health experts give guidelines and health tips to the viewers on how to stop the spread of the pandemic.

They also talk about the importance of the lockdown to minimize the spread of this virus.

The chairman of the NDMA said that the authority had been giving protection to the doctors who were the frontline soldiers in the fight against this virus.

Lieutenant-General Mohammad Afzal said on the programme that the casualties in Pakistan due to this virus were lower compared with other countries.

He vowed to eliminate this virus with the coordinated efforts being made at the government level with the cooperation of doctors and paramedics.

Dr. Naseem participating in the special transmission said that the coronavirus posed threats not only to an individual, but it also put an individual’s whole family at risk.

Dr. Naseem said that social distancing was the only remedy to prevent ourselves from being infected by this virus during the Eid shopping.

A message from President Arif Alvi was also aired on the programme in which he appealed to the people to take precautionary measures and follow the SOPs to keep themselves safe from the coronavirus.

Aaj TV appealed to the people to use facemasks, avoid going out unnecessarily and practice social distancing.
