Kh Asif urges NA speaker to issue full schedule for completion

RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentary leader Khawaja Asif has urged Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser to issue a full schedule for the completion of the constitutionally mandated days of the lower house.

Through a letter addressed to the speaker, the PML-N parliamentary leader in the National Assembly diverted his attention towards Article 54 (2) of the Constitution under which the National Assembly was constitutionally required to meet for not less than 130 working days in each year.

As till now, he added the Lower House had only met for 77 days, while 53 session days were still remaining to complete the required days in the parliamentary year according to the Constitution of Pakistan.

“Parliament is the supreme institution in the country; its failure to complete constitutionally mandated days would amount to breach of this August House. Therefore, I call upon you to provide a full schedule for the completion of the constitutionally mandated days of the National Assembly,” he further wrote.
