ISLAMABAD: The confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan have surged to 190,340, while Covid-19 deaths have reached 3,792, according to the latest statistics released by the authorities here on Wednesday.

According to the latest figures, Sindh has the highest number of cases that is 74,070, followed by the Punjab with 69,536 cases, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa 23,388 cases, the Islamabad Capital Territory 11,483, Balochistan 9,634, Gilgit-Baltistan 1,337, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 892 cases.

Among 3,792 deaths, Punjab’s toll is the highest with 1,516 deaths, followed by Sindh 1,161, 869 in KP, 102 in Balochistan, 108 in Islamabad, 23 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 24 deaths in the AJK.

According to authorities, 73,471 patients have so far recovered from the disease.

The Punjab has reported 1,228 new cases, and 21 deaths in the past 24 hours, according to the government’s Covid-19 web portal.

The province has so far recorded 69,536 cases, and registered 1,516 deaths.

Punjab has the second-highest number of cases among the provinces and federal territories, and the highest death toll.

Sindh reported 1,414 Covid-19 cases and 37 deaths during the past 24 hours, according to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

In his daily briefing about the province’s coronavirus situation, he said 7,400 tests were carried out over the past 24 hours, out of which 1,414 returned positive.

With the new cases, the provincial total has risen to 74,070.

Further, 37 more deaths were recorded during the period, taking the total number of fatalities to 1,161.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has reported 499 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the provincial tally to 23,887.

The daily situation report, released by the health department, also confirmed the deaths of 14 more people due to the virus.

The death toll in the province now stands at 869.

Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and the Azad Jammu and Kashmir collectively saw 298 new cases and four fatalities, as reported on the government’s official Covid-19 portal.

The federal capital reported two deaths and 264 cases, taking its death toll and tally of cases to 108 and 11,483 respectively.

The GB reported 11 new cases, while the AJK recorded 23.

Both territories reported one death each.

Pakistan has recorded 4,283 recoveries in the past 24 hours, taking the number of cured cases to 77,754, the government’s Covid portal said.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Wednesday transported ninth tranche of Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) to the doctors working in the hospitals of Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to help fight COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the NDMA’s spokesman, some 91,000 medical and face masks, 7,000, 25,000 surgical gowns, 40,000 safety gloves, 3,000 plastic boots, 100 thermal guns, 10,000 safety goggles have been dispatched to Balochistan.

Likewise, 130,000 medical and face masks, 10,000 safety suits, 25,000 surgical gowns, 40,000 gloves, 3,000 plastic boots, 150 thermal guns, 15,000 safety goggles have been transported to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
