KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 192,990 tonnes of cargo comprising 115,559 tonnes of import cargo and 77,431 tonnes of export cargo including 6,922 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 115,559 tonnes comprised of 48,478 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,172 tonnes of general cargo; 18,910 tonnes of bulk cargo and 45,999 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 77,431 tonnes comprised of 30,367 tonnes of containerised cargo; 44,964 tonnes of bulk cargo and 2,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 6,922 containers comprising of 3,905 containers of import and 3,017 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 749 of 20’s and 1,367 of 40’s loaded while 116 of 20’s and 153 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 659 of 20’s and 780 of 40’s loaded containers while 54 of 20’s and 372 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely OOCL California, CMA CGM Lamartine, Celsius Randers and Osprey-1 carrying containers, mogas and clinkers sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were eight vessels carrying containers, oil tankers, clinkers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 156,255 tonnes comprising of 108,698 tonnes of import cargo and 47,557 tonnes of export cargo including 3,518 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 108,698 tonnes includes 35,577 tonnes of coal; 17,021 tonnes of LNG; 15,415 tonnes of gas oil; 14,000 tonnes of palm oil; 3,000 tonnes of soyabean; 4,400 tonnes of LPG and 19,285 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 47,557 tonnes includes 47,557 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,518 containers comprising of 1,015 containers import and 2,503 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were three ships namely Gottfried Schulte, Milaha Qatar and Al-Adailiah carrying containers, LNG and gas oil sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships namely Nord Bering and Gas Athena carrying coal and LPG respectively is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve vessels viz. Express Athens, Hong Fa Shang Hai, Dona Bibi, Mytro, Imperial Eagle, Fmerold Shiner, Bubyan, Hafnia Europe, Ploutos, Torm Asfrid and Asia Marine carrying containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean, gas oil, gasoline, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Hong Fa Shang Hai, Imperial Eagle, Tiger Winter and Hafnia Europe carrying general cargo, coal, chemical and gasiline respectively expected to take berths at Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely Tiger Winter carrying chemical due to arrive on Wednesday while two more ships namely Express Athens and Maersk Brooklyn carrying containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
