ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration on Friday sealed two more areas on the recommendation of the health department.

According to a notification issued by the ICT Administration, on the recommendation of the health department, and COVID-19 cases online list of the National Institute of Health (NIH) duly traced by the surveillance teams, and in order to prevent the community spread of the virus in the area, Ghouri Town, Phase IV-A and V-A were sealed.

It says that the exemption in this order include essential services and supplies such as pharmacy and medicine shops, groceries stores and bakeries, patients for medical aid/medical consultation, rationing, drinking water supplies and emergency. Moreover, the commercial areas of Ghouri Town and surrounding vicinity will strictly be monitored, and in case of violation, the area will be sealed by the concerned assistant commissioner.

The administration had earlier sealed two sub-sectors of G-9 on June 13, and two sub-sectors of I-8 and I-10 were sealed on June 18, which were identified as hotspots with a high level of transmission. According to official data, the tally of confirmed cases rose to 11,981 after 271 more tested positive for Covid-19. It says that out of 11,981 confirmed cases 5,839 patients have recovered so far, and 119 have died.
