KARACHI: The Executive Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) held its emergent meeting here on Saturday, which was presided over by Azam Nazeer Tarar, Chairman Executive Committee, at Lahore.

Besides Chairman of Executive Committee, meeting was attended by its members Muhammad Ahsan Bhoon, Abid Saqi and Ch Hafeez-ur-Rehman. Syed Qalb-e-Hassan, Akhtar Hussain and Tahir Nasrullah Warraich also attended the meeting as special invitee.

The Committee, on the motion of Akhtar Hussain, expressed its serious concerns over unjustified arrest and detention of Editor in Chief of ‘Jang’ Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman by NAB and termed his arrest in a criminal matter pertaining to year 1986 a mala fide act.

The Committee also requested its members Abid Saqi, Syed Qalb-e-Hassan and Tahir Nasrullah Warraich to attend future hearing of the case, as requested by many senior journalists, in order to show solidarity with the journalist community.—PR
