ISLAMABAD: International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) will establish a ‘Kashmir Desk’ at the female campus, said Prof Dr Masoom Yasinzai, Rector of the university.

This he said while addressing a ceremony organized in connection with Independence Day celebrations. On the occasion, a cake was cut and a sapling was also planted by Dr Masoom as part of a tree plantation campaign.

The desk will provide information and literature about Kashmir’s history, importance and culture, he said. He furthered that the desk will also be a source of condemning atrocities being continued by Indian forces. The IIUI Rector called upon the global community to play a role for the rights of Kashmiris and people of Palestine.

Dr Masoom said we must not forget the sacrifices and struggle of Kashmiris. He said Indian oppression and heinous crimes in occupied Kashmir must be stopped and world powers must come forward to save humanity.

The IIUI Rector stressed that the role of universities is vital to highlight the cruelty of Indian forces on innocent Kashmiris. He said the tyranny unleashed against innocent civilians in Kashmir has crossed all limits and it has endangered the peace of the region as well.—PR
