KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 156,918 tonnes of cargo comprising 106,059 tonnes of import cargo and 50,359 tonnes of export cargo including 4,507 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 106,059 tonnes comprised of 43,722 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,350 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,087 tonnes of DPA; 17,201 tonnes of wheat and 38,699 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 50,359 tonnes comprised of 15,374 tonnes of containerised cargo; 32,840 tonnes of clinker and 2,645 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 4,507 containers comprising of 3,183 containers import and 1,324 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 981 of 20’s and 766 of 40’s loaded while 638 of 20’s and 16 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 359 of 20’s and 380 of 40’s loaded containers while 17 of 20’s and 94 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely Thor Sky, Hyundai Oakland, Castor-N, MT Karachi, Al Mahboobah, Christina Selmer and Navi Sunny carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, clinker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels viz. CSAV Tyndall, Wan Hai-611, Safeen Oryx, Castor-N, MT Shalamar, Christina Selmer, TRF Kristansand and Eastern Begonia carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely MT Shalamar carrying oil tanker expected to sail on Wednesday.

There are four vessels viz. CSL Sophie, Paris Express, Tabernacle Prince and Coventry carrying containers, cement and wheat respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while nine more vessels viz. Botany Bay, Diyala, Chemroad Rose, MT Quetta, Linusp, Inredible Blue, NACC Poros, Filia Glory and Petali Lady carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, cement and mogas respectively are expected due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 173,325 tonnes comprising 154,794 tonnes of import cargo and 18,531 tonnes of export cargo including 1,771 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 154,794 tonnes includes 68,281 tonnes of coal; 22,500 tonnes of LNG; 2,042 tonnes of LPG; 15,700 tonnes of palm oil; 12,850 tonnes of canola; 8,821 tonnes of furnace oil and 26,600 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 18,531 tonnes includes 18,531 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,771 containers comprising of 1,400 containers import and 371 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were two ships namely MSC Hina and Facility carrying containers and furnace oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely Glory Harvest, Nikolas-III and Elim Peace carrying coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, canola, LNG, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twenty one vessels viz. Adomes, Izumo, Han Hai, KSL Don Yong, Al Bion Bay, Makiki, IVS Naruo, Amestel Seagul, Karimu, Ag Mars, Maeliga, Hasan, YM Stum, YM Pacific, Tomson Gas, Gas Zous, STI Pride, Nord Venus, Cordula Jacob, Chemroad Wing and Jal Pari carrying general cargo, steel coil, coal, cement, chemical, soyabean, canola, LPG, gasoline and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. Diyala, Maersk Atlanta, IVS Naruo, Makiki and STI Pride carrying containers, coal and gasoline respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There is one ship namely Diyala carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
