ISLAMABAD: Former judge of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui on Thursday filed an application for early hearing of his case.

He said that on 13th Feb, a five-member bench had heard his case, and then adjourned it.

The bench had directed the SC office to fix it in the 3rd week of March.

However, on that date, the case could not be fixed.

The former IHC judge stated that “important questions related to the independence of judiciary, and to his legal and constitutional rights were involved; therefore, it required an earlier adjudication”.

Shaukat Siddiqui was removed by the president of Pakistan, subsequent to a Supreme Judicial Council’s (SJC’s) report.—TERENCE J SIGAMONY
