AC indicts Ghani, Anwar and others

ISLAMABAD: The accountability court hearing multi-billion rupees fake bank accounts case on Thursday indicted Omni Group’s Abdul Ghani Majeed, Khwaja Anwar Majeed, and other accused in Pink Residency reference.
The accountability court judge Muhammad Azam Khan while hearing the case, indicted Abdul Ghani Majeed, Khawaja Anwar Majeed, Aftab Memon, Abdul Jabbar Memon, Muhammad Shabbir and other accused.
The court marked attendance of all accused and handed over them charge sheet for reading.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
The court summoned three prosecution witnessed during the next hearing to be held on Oct 16th.
The reference pertains to a project, ‘Pink Residency’ in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.
The accused had alleged involvement in illegal regularisation of two plots in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
One of the plots measured 23 acres of land, while the other was of seven acres.
The anti-graft body has alleged that financial transactions related to the illegally-regularised plots were con1ducted through fake bank accounts.
The NAB estimates that the illegal land regularization and consequent sale caused a loss of Rs4 billion to the national exchequer.
Meanwhile, the same court declared Younus Kidwai, who is reportedly a close aide of former president Asif Ali Zardari, as a proclaimed offender in the Sindh Bank corruption case.
Judge Muhammad Azam Khan, while hearing the case declared Kidwai as a proclaimed offender for not appearing before it.
The NAB prosecutor, Mubashir Kareem, produced compliance report before the court. Kidwai had fled abroad, the report said.
The court directed the NAB to start collection of details of Kidwai’s properties in order to start process of seizing of his movable and immovable properties.
The Accountability Court has already declared Kidwai in Park Lane case as proclaimed offender, and blocked his national identity card.
Kidwai had allegedly embezzled money from Sindh Bank by giving loans to fake companies.
