Roomi, Buzdar discuss promotion of industrial activities

LAHORE: Former Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industries President and newly-elected President of D G Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industries Kh Jalaluddin Roomi called on Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Sunday and discussed matters regarding promotion of industrial activates in Southern Punjab besides generating employment opportunities.

During the meeting, the chief minister congratulated Roomi for electing as president of the D.G. Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industries. Jalaluddin asserted to promote industries and commerce in D G Khan, according to a spokesperson of Buzdar.

The CM said that setting up of 13 special economic zones (SEZs) will bring industrial revolution in Punjab, adding that employment opportunities would be generated especially in South Punjab by promoting industrial sector as there is a huge potential for industry and trade in the backward areas.

“Plans have been chalked out to establish a largest industrial zone of the country in Muzaffargarh which will change the economic destiny of the region. A business friendly environment has been provided to the business and industrial community,” Buzdar was quoted as having said.

The chief minister further stated that land would be provided for the building of D G Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industries and the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) will soon be inaugurated in the region as well. “Backward areas will bring at par with the developed ones through small and medium industries (SMEs).”

Jalaluddin lauded the efforts of the Punjab government for the promotion of industries and trade. He said that exports are being increased due to the provision of business friendly environment in Punjab.

He claimed that the business community appreciates the corona relief package and other economic initiatives of the Punjab government. He added that the D.G. Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industries will extend full cooperation with the government for the development of social sector in the backward areas of Southern Punjab. He assured the CM that the trader community will also cooperate with the Punjab government in health and education projects in the border areas of Balochistan in Koh-e-Suleman.
