ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet which is scheduled to meet on Tuesday (Oct 13) with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair, will discuss the political situation in the country, skyrocketing inflation, wheat and sugar crisis and the measures to resolve these issues. Pakistan Democratic Movement’s Gujranwala public gathering will also come under discussion with special reference to security arrangements.

The issue of RLNG prices, supply of RNLG to CNG stations, Pakistan Steels Mills (PMS) employees and retired employees’ payment issues will also come under discussion.

Other agenda items will be as follows: (i) issues of National Information Technology Board (NTB);(ii) update on encroachment removal in Islamabad; (iii) nomination/appointment of Directors on the Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL) Board; (iv) Export-Import Bank of Pakistan Act, 2020; (v) reconstitution of BoDs of USC; (vi) grant of additional charge of heads of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs); (vii) approval of CDA’s budget estimates 2020-21 and revised estimates for the financial year 2019-20. With the approval of the government, CDA has allocated funds amounting to Rs.22.696 billion since 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 to formations and transferred to MCI as loan for expenditure and CDA received Rs.5.696 billion as revenue pertaining to MCI. In addition to that Rs.l.569 billion was approved by the Federal Government to be transferred to CDA from MCI account. A net amount of Rs.l6.999 billion is outstanding against MCI / Federal Government. It is proposed that for outstanding amount balance funds available to the tune of Rs.561.729 million on June 30, 2020 in MCI account may be transferred to CDA account.

Floods in Niger, Pakistan may consider relief assistance. Pakistan's Ambassador in Niger has proposed that Government of Pakistan may provide 400 tents with the weight of 15 tons through 2 x C130 aircrafts to Niger as a message of solidarity and “to strengthen our narrative of helping Niger in times of need.” The expenditure to be incurred on above shipment will be met from National Disaster Management Fund (NDMF).

The cabinet will approve qualification and experience of members of BISP. A minimum of 10 years of experience of working at management or policy leadership positions in public or private sector organizations is recommended. In order to ensure diversity of experience, members from different backgrounds will be appointed e.g. banking, audit, IT, finance governance, non-corporate academics, philanthropy etc.

The Cabinet will ratify CCLC decisions of October 1, 2020 and ECC decision of October 7, 2020.
