KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 246,418 tonnes of cargo comprising 146,809 tonnes of import cargo and 99,609 tonnes of export cargo including 3,002 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 146,809 tonnes comprised of 35,384 tonnes of containerised cargo; 34,720 tonnes of bulk cargo; 15,325 tonnes of wheat and 61,380 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 99,609 tonnes comprised of 42,716 tonnes of containerised cargo; 55,893 tonnes of clinkers and 1,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 3,002 containers comprising of 1,776 containers import and 1,226 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 868 of 20’s and 420 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 34 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 179 of 20’s and 236 of 40’s loaded containers while 505 of 20’s and 35 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were ten ships namely As Sophia, Botany Bay, OOCL Guanghou, Nordspring, Esperanza-N, MT Quetta, ST Gergue, Grace, STI Uranus and KSL Deyang carrying containers, oil tanker, wheat, clinker, tug and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were nine vessels viz. George Washington, Kapitan Maslov, Esperanza-N, As Sophia, Velos Sapphire, Sea Power, Navig8 Sol, Ginga Lynx and Umm Al Anber carrying containers, oil tankers and Survey V/L respectively currently at the berths.

There are four ship namely Kapitan Maslov, Ginga Lynx, Navig8 Sol and Jin Tao carrying containers, oil tankers and clinker respectively to sail on Monday.

There are five vessels viz. As Sara, CMA CGM Titus, Hyundai Colombo, Ottomana and Liberty Promise carrying containers, chemical and vehicle respectively due to arrive on Monday while five vessels viz. Ever Ursula, OEL Kedarnath, Erving, Beaufort and Eemslift Dafne carrying containers and general cargo respectively are expected due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 92,053 tonnes comprising 76,036 tonnes of import cargo and 16,017 tonnes of export cargo including 1,883 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 76,036 tonnes tonnes includes 43,976 tonnes of coal; 1,000 tonnes of palm oil; 1,400 tonnes of mogas; 5,623 tonnes of wheat; 4,277 tonnes of chemical and 19,760 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 16,017 tonnes includes 16,017 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,883 containers comprising of 1,040 containers import and 843 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There was one ship namely AS Sara carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely Tiger Winter carrying chemical is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eight ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, wheat and gasoline respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as sixteen vessels viz. MSC Busan, Parnassos, Bright Imabari, Star Hercules, Sweet Melissa, Nordic Americas, Oriental Freesia, Ali Ki Force, Epic Bermuda, Gas Athena, Gas Zeus, Cool Explorer, Gulf Pearl, Norstar Invictus, Paula Onaiga and Antigoni carrying containers, coal, chemical, talcum powder, LPG, LNG, mogas, condensate and palm kernel respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. MSC Busan, Maersk Brooklyn, Parnassos, Nordic Americas, Epic Bermuda and Paula Onaiga carrying containers, coal, chemical, LPG and palm kernel respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.

There are four ships namely Maersk Kinloss, Maersk Brooklyn, Symil-1 and Africa Tinaco carrying containers and cement due to arrive on Tuesday.
