Rs289.7bn released for development projects

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has released Rs289.7 billion (44.5 percent) during the current fiscal year so far including Rs31.19 billion foreign aid for various ongoing and new development projects under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2020-21, against the total budgeted allocation of Rs650 billion.

According to the latest PSDP data 2020-21, released by the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms, the government released Rs188.344 billion (51.46 percent) including Rs12.378 billion foreign aid for development projects of various ministries, divisions and related departments, out of Rs366.3 billion budgeted allocation.

The government also released a total of Rs76.466 billion including Rs18.199 billion foreign aid disbursement out of Rs158.3 billion for development budget of corporations; a total of Rs53.43 billion has been released for development projects of the National Highways Authority (NHA) out of Rs118.67 billion budgeted allocation, and Rs23.03 billion out of Rs39.65 billion has been released for the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC)/Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco).

The government released a total of Rs24.149 billion out of Rs52.4 billion budgeted allocation for development projects of special areas; Rs13.024 billion for development projects of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) out of Rs27.4 billion, and Rs11.125 billion for Gilgit-Baltistan for financial year 2020-21.

The government released Rs6.88 billion out of Rs14.51 billion for development projects of the National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Division, and Rs26.9 million for development projects of the Narcotics Control Division against Rs53.89 million budgeted allocation.

A total of Rs28.22 billion out of Rs47.8 billion have been released for development projects of the Cabinet Division, Rs2.5 billion for the development projects of the Climate Division, Rs32.35 billion for development projects of the Finance Division for financial year 2020-21.

The Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms authorised the release of Rs11.75 billion for development projects of the Railways Division against Rs24 billion budgeted allocation, Rs2.15 billion for development projects of the Science and Technology Research Division, and Rs6 billion for the National Food Security and Research Division.

The government has released Rs2.24 billion for development projects of the Federal Education and Professional Training Division out of Rs4.53 billion budgeted allocation, and Rs14.049 billion have been released out of Rs29.47 billion for the development projects of the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

The ministry authorised the release of a total of Rs43.267 billion for the development projects of the Water Resources Division, Rs2.7 billion for Information Technology and Telecom Division, and Rs175 million for the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority.

The government has released Rs7.38 billion for development projects of the Interior Division, Rs2.55 billion for Revenue Division, Rs4.37 billion for Housing and Works Division, Rs548.89 million for Aviation Division, and Rs789.57 million for Defence Production Division.

The government also released a total of Rs155.46 million for development projects of Information and Broadcasting Division, Rs464.75 million for Inter-Provincial Coordination Division, Rs495 million for Law and Justice Division, Rs699.41 million for Maritime Affairs Division, Rs1.33 billion for Petroleum Division, Rs1.77 billion for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Division, and Rs750 million for the development projects of the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (Erra) out of Rs3 billion budgeted allocation.
