RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Tuesday said that the management has not reduced pilots' salaries, house rents and allowances.

According to PIA spokesman, the management has not reduced pilots' salaries, house rents and allowances but now the payment of pilots' allowances has been made more realistic. Moreover, he said that CEO PIA had ordered an inquiry against the PALPA spokesman for misrepresentation in the media.

On November 1, 2020, Pakistan Airlines Pilots’ Association (PALPA) spokesperson claimed that the management has cut salaries up to 44 percent (25% recent and 19% previous) and requested the government to resolve the issue.

He said that salaries were being further slashed by 25% to 30% and termed the salaries deduction as the violation of the directives of the Prime Minister of Pakistan who instructed not to reduce any employees’ salaries during COVID-19 pandemic.
