India has repeatedly been targeting populated areas across the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary with heavy caliber weapons to distract international attention from the human rights crisis created by its illegal and immoral policies towards Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The more desperate the Modi government gets in its failure to control the situation in the Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) the more increases the intensity and frequency of the ceasefire violations. As the ISPR pointed out in its statement following the latest provocation, on the night of November 7-8 Indian army was reported to have had an encounter with some freedom fighters in district Kupwara, well within IIOJK territory in which its four soldiers were killed. Hence in order to “ward off the humiliation faced by it in front of the domestic audience” it resorted to the indiscriminate fire of all calibers, including artillery and heavy mortars, along the LoC in various sectors of AJK. In fact, hardly a day goes by without reports of clashes between resistance fighters and occupation forces. That the Kashmiri people are completely alienated from India was forcefully articulated by a previously pro-India Kashmiri leader, former chief minister Farooq Abdullah, when he recently told an interviewer “They [the Kashmiris] are slaves… They would rather have the Chinese rule them.”

Escalation of tensions along the LoC and bloody repression inside IIOJK are deeply concerning. Given New Delhi’s tendency to blame its troubles on this country, it can launch a false flag operation or resort to some misadventure, like last year’s purported airstrike in Balakot. As Prime Minister Imran Khan has repeatedly been warning any such action could easily lead to an all-out war between the two nuclear-armed nations, leading to unthinkable consequences for the region, and beyond. That Pakistan has unveiled all of India’s sinister designs through a comprehensive dossier to be presented to the United Nations and Organization of Islamic Cooperation, among others, is a fact. The evidence collected over a period of time clearly show how India is seeking to sabotage the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in particular. Unveiling the dossier, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and DG ISPR Maj-Gen Babar Iftikhar told media persons last Saturday that India has been providing funds, sustenance and shelter through a range of operations to the terrorists operating on the Afghan soil to carry out terror activities inside Pakistan by making optimal use of its multiple consulates in the war-torn Afghanistan; New Delhi has been making payment of Rs 10 million for each suicide attack its sponsored terrorists carry out inside Pakistan. The documents also prove that India has distributed ammunition and money among terrorists groups such as Altaf Husain London group to carry out anti-state activities in Sindh’s urban areas. The denial by both Afghanistan and India in this regard is not sound or logical because it is successfully quashed by what prime minister Imran Khan says “irrefutable evidence”.

India’s influential Western friends need to intervene and help resolve the core issue in the dispute and rein in India from conceiving, planning and executing terror plans against Pakistan. Notably, US’ president-elect Joe Biden in his policy document, issued during the election campaign, had called for “restoration of rights of the people of J&K.” Vice president-elect Kamala Harris had also assured the Kashmiris that “they are not alone in the world.”
