KARACHI: On Thursday, PKR went up slightly against USD in both interbank and open markets. It however continued to go down against Euro in open market. According to financial news, in global currency markets, USD index hit at its lowest mark on Thursday as optimism regarding US financial stimulus and COVID-19 vaccine prompted investors to move towards riskier assets.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee gained 10 paisas for buying and selling against USD over yesterday’s rates closing at 160.20 and 160.30 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR gained 10 paisas for buying and 20 paisas for selling over yesterday’s rates closing at 160.30 and 160.60 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR fell by 50 paisas for buying and selling closing at 192 and 193.50 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR remained unchanged for buying while losing 5 paisas for selling closing at 43.50 and 43.75 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR remained unchanged for buying while losing 5 paisas for selling as well closing at 42.35 and 42.60 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee-greenback parity stayed unchanged amid sluggish trading activity in the local currency market on Thursday.

According to currency dealers, greenback did not witness any change in its demand and supply situation throughout the trading session and it firmly closed at its opening trend for buying and selling at Rs 160.40 and Rs 161.50 respectively.

Besides, the national currency maintained downward slide for the second consecutive day against the pound sterling. Consequently, the pound’s buying and selling rates further rose from Wednesday’s closing of Rs 211.50 and Rs 213.20 to Rs 212.40 and Rs 213.80 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar gained 30 paisas against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Thursday.

The dollar opened at Rs 161.10(buying) and Rs 161.20(selling) against last rate of Rs 160.80(buying) and Rs 160.90(selling).

It closed at Rs 161.10(buying) and Rs 161.20(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold was Rs109,100 (selling) and Rs109,000(buying) at the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
