Sindh E&T collects over Rs43.95bn

KARACHI: Sindh Excise and Taxation (E&T) department has collected over Rs43.95 billion from July 2020 to December 2020.

The provincial tax department has collected over Rs43.95 billion from July 2020 to December 2020 as compared to the Rs39.98 billion collected during the same period of the last financial year.

This was informed at a meeting attended by Secretary Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control department Abdul Haleem Sheikh, Director Generals Haji Saleem Bhutto, Munir Ahmed Zardari, Additional Director Nasir Affandi, Director Taxes Iqbal Leghari and other officers.

It was appraised that Rs4138.992 million was collected against motor vehicle tax, Rs35.68 billion as infrastructure cess, Rs321.290 million as professional tax, Rs1192.959 million as property tax, Rs68.724 million was collected on account of cotton fee while Rs13.252 million in the form of entertainment duty.

Addressing the meeting, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control department & Parliamentary Affairs, said that the overall situation of tax collection was satisfactory and hoped that the department would achieve the annual revenue target. Moreover, he directed the E&T officials to expedite the collection of taxes especially from professional and property tax defaulters.
