THE RUPEE: Gain vs USD continues

KARACHI: On Wednesday, PKR continued to gain value against USD in both interbank and open markets. It however remained unchanged against Euro and SR in open market while slightly going up against AED for buying.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee gained 23 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over yesterday’s rates closing at 160.35 and 160.45 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR gained 10 paisas for buying and 20 paisas for selling over yesterday’s rates closing at 160.50 and 160.70 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR remained unchanged for both buying and selling closing at 193.50 and 195 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR gained 5 paisas for buying while remaining unchanged for selling closing at 43.70 and 43.95 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR remained unchanged for both buying and selling closing at 42.55 and 42.75 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee-greenback parity stayed unchanged amid sluggish trading activity in the local currency market on Wednesday.

According to currency dealers, the greenback did not witness any change in its demand and supply situation throughout the trading session and it firmly closed at its opening trend for buying and selling at Rs 160.50 and Rs 161.50 respectively.

Moreover, the rupee maintained its downward slide for the second consecutive day against the pound sterling. Consequently, the pound’s buying and selling rate further improved from Tuesday’s closing of Rs 218.20 and Rs 219.20 to Rs 219.20 and Rs 220.90 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee gained 10 paisas against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Wednesday.

The dollar opened at Rs161.10(buying) and Rs 161.20(selling) against last rate of Rs161.20(buying) and Rs 161.30(selling).

It closed at Rs161.10(buying) and Rs 161.20(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold was Rs. 110,800 (selling) and Rs110,600(buying) at the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
