KARACHI: On Tuesday, PKR saw a jump of almost one rupee against USD in both interbank and open markets going below 154 in both markets. PKR also went up by 2 rupees against Euro in Pakistan open market. Until writing of this report, USD hit a one year high in global currency markets fueled by growing optimism about economic recovery.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee gained 95 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over yesterday’s rates closing at 153.05 and 153.15 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR gained 90 paisas for both buying and selling over yesterday’s rates closing at 153.20 and 153.70 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR gained two rupees for both buying and selling closing at 178.70 and 180.20 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR gained 35 paisas for buying and 25 paisas for selling closing at 41.45 and 41.85 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR gained 30 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 40.50 and 40.80 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee appreciated its worth in the process of trading against the greenback and the British Pound in the local currency market on Tuesday.

Amid lack of the buying spree in the market, the greenback remained under selling pressure throughout the trading session and closed lower for buying and selling at Rs 153.00 and Rs 154.40 against the overnight closing trend of Rs 154.20 and Rs 155.80 respectively, local currency dealers said.

Similarly, the rupee also followed suit in relation to the pound sterling that was bought and sold at Rs 209.40 and Rs 211.00 against Monday’s closing rate of Rs 211.50 and Rs 213.00 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee maintained its upward journey against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.

The dollar opened at Rs 153.80(buying) and Rs 153.90(selling) against last rate of Rs 154.90 (buying) and Rs 155(selling).

It closed at Rs 153.80(buying) and Rs 153.90(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs. 95,700 and Rs 95,500(buying) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
