ISLAMABAD: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Pakistan, on Monday, held discussions on state of economy, reforms agenda and external financing needs.

A virtual meeting was held between Kristalina Georgieva, IMF Managing Director, Hammad Azhar Finance Minister and State Bank Governor Dr Reza Baqir.

Kristalina Georgieva, IMF Managing Director and Hammad Azhar, Finance Minister on Monday took to Twitter and confirmed that they held discussions on economic reforms and way forward.

The IMF MD stated, “Great to speak with Pakistan's @Hammad_Azhar and @DRezaBaqir today. I commended Pakistan's response to the health and economic crisis, and we discussed the way forward for vital economic reforms and external financing needed to build a better future for Pakistan's people”.

Azhar also took to Twitter and stated, “Had a productive virtual meeting with IMF MD on state of Pakistan's economy and implementation of reforms. Grateful that she acknowledged the positive economic indicators and the need to keep the welfare of people of Pakistan as the focus of all our policy endeavours”.
