ISLAMABAD: The government has reconstituted the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) and Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin has replaced former finance minister Dr Hafeez Shaikh as chairman of the council.

A notification said that the prime minister has been pleased to re-constitute the Ecnec.

The composition of the ECNEC shall now be (i) Shaukat Fayyaz Ahmed Tarin, Minister for Finance and Revenue, chairman (ii) Asad Umar, Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, (iii) Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtyar, Minister for Industries and Production, (iv) Muhammad Hammad Azhar, Minister for Energy, (v) Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht, Minister for Finance, Punjab, (vi) Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Sindh (vii) Taimur Saleem Khan, Minister for Finance, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and (viii) Nawabzada Tariq Khan Magsi, Minister for Communication and Works Department, Balochistan as members of the ECNEC.

Those who would be invited specially for all the items would be (i) Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, (ii) Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment, (iii) Adviser to the Prime Minister on Institutional Reforms and Austerity, (iv) Secretary, Economic Affairs Division, (v) Secretary, Finance Division, (vi) Secretary, Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Division, (vii) Chairman, Planning and Development Board, Punjab, (viii) Chairman, Planning and Development Board, Sindh, (ix) ACS, Planning and Development Department, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and (x) ACS, Planning and Development Department, Balochistan.—ZAHEER ABBASI
