ISLAMABAD: A meeting of Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet being held Wednesday (May 19) will take up as many as nine proposals of various ministries and divisions, including the request for approval of gas allocation to third parties from well-NF HOR-1.

The ECC meeting to be presided over by Minister for Finance Shaukat Tarin will be submitted a proposal by the Petroleum Division seeking approval for allocation of gas from Well NF HOR-1 to third parties.

The meeting will also take up the Ministry of Defense and Production's summary for approval of Technical Supplementary Grant (TSG) to the tune of Rs100 million from Development Budget of the Ministry of Defence Production for Project Management Cell for Gwadar Shipyard.

The ECC would take another proposal of Ministry of Housing and Works for allocation of additional funds under demand No''188-capitalo outlay on civil works during the ongoing fiscal year (2020-21) in respect of development schemes of Ministry of Housing and Works.

The Ministry of Industries and Production has also moved a summary to the ECC regarding approval of TSG of Rs85 million for payment of court fee in case Dr Hilal Hussain Al Tuwairqi and Al Ittefaq Steel Products Company Limited against Pakistan, while the Petroleum Division would also be seeking approval of TSG during current fiscal year for supply of gas to Allama Iqbal Industrial City Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

The meeting is likely to approve Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division request for launching of 2nd Phase of Ehsaas emergency cash.

The ECC will also take up Commerce Ministry’s proposal with regard to condonation of delay of late shipment of vehicles imported by overseas Pakistanis, Board of Investment's proposal for exemption from minimum turnover tax under the SEZ Act 2012, and the Privatisation Commission's proposal for Grant of National Security Certificate (NSC), and outstanding issues of the KE's payables and receivables.—ZAHEER ABBASI
