KARACHI: Leadership of United Business Group (UBG) has said that Pakistan and Italy had a tremendous potential to further enhance economic and trade cooperation, particularly in the areas of construction, agriculture, technology, plastic, processed food, dairy, livestock, pharmaceutical and environmental protection.

Appreciating the joint efforts of Ministry of Commerce and Embassy of Pakistan in Italy, resulting in a record increase of Pakistan’s exports to Italy at tune of $ 786 million in 2020-2021, which is 49 percent higher than the previous year as revealed in report of Pakistan’s embassy, S M Muneer Patron in-Chief, Iftikhar Ali Malik Chairman , Zubair Tufail President, Zafar Bakhtawari Secretary General and Khalid Tawab Chairman Sindh chapter said that Pakistan’s export to Italy was remarkable and its credit goes to Ministry of commerce and Pakistan embassy in view of the fact that Italy was the worst hit by pandemic and its GDP had severely fallen.

They said Pakistani textiles, leather and rice, are the main contributors in our export to Italy and menu of our exportable items can be further enhanced. They further added that Italy is also an important trading partner of Pakistan in Europe and it ranked fifth among Pakistan top export destinations.

UBG leaders requested all trade bodies to emphasis on their members to intensify interactions with their European counterparts and Commercial sections of Pakistan embassies in Europe to explore new avenues for export and joint ventures.
