KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 166,289 tonnes of cargo comprising 101,831 tonnes of import cargo and 64,458 tonnes of export cargo during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 101,831 tonnes comprised of 52,371 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,522 tonnes of DAP; 2,860 tonnes of sugar; 7,470 tonnes of wheat and 29,608 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 64,458 tonnes comprised of 34,312 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,806 tonnes of cement; 16,270 tonnes of clinkers and 7,070 tonnes of talc powder.

As many as 8,520 containers comprising of 3,775 containers of import and 4,745 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 789 of 20’s and 1,482 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 11 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 729 of 20’s and 656 of 40’s loaded containers while 104 of 20’s and 1,300 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three vessels AS Penelope, OOCL Charlston and Jing Yu Zuo carrying containers and tankers currently at the berths.

There were five ships namely Berlin Express, Milla, Cosco Aden, Teera Bhum and MTM Tokyo sailed out to sea during the reported period. Five ships namely Annita, Parnassos, AS Penelope, OEL Kedarnath and California Trader expected to sail on 12-10-2021.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 190,658 tonnes comprising of 147,686 tonnes of import cargo and 42,972 tonnes of export cargo including 3,203 loaded and empty containers (1,123 TEUs imports and 2,080 export), was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 147,686 tonnes includes 19,091 tonnes of containerised cargo; 32,844 tonnes of coal; 18,394 tonnes of LNG; 11,000 tonnes of palm oil; 8,500 tonnes of rope seeds; 4,541 tonnes of sugar; 3,800 tonnes of chemicals and 49,516 tonnes of gas oil.
