KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 163,734 tonnes of cargo comprising 125,514 tonnes of import cargo and 38,220 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 125,514 comprised of 23,392 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 11,590 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 4,730 tonnes of DAP, 7,960 tonnes of Rock Phosphate, 4,630 tonnes of Sugar, 16,068 tonnes of Wheat and 57,144 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 38,220 tonnes comprised of 21,965 tonnes of containerized cargo, 754 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 2,576 tonnes of Clinkers, 10,014 tonnes of Bulk Cement, 2,611 tonnes of Talc Powder and 300 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.

As many as 5962 containers comprising of 2853 containers of import and 3109 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 605 of 20’s and 1123 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 01 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 489 of 20’s and 266 of 40’s loaded containers while 366 of 20’s and 861of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Some 05, ships namely Prionas, Cornelia I, Meghna Sun, Kota Nilam and Caribbean 1 have berth at Karachi Port.

Jing Yu Zuo, Irene, Kota Megah, Hyundai Jakarta, Xin Qing Dao and Canary have sailed out from Karachi Port.

PORT QASIM

PQA berths were engaged by eleven ships during the last 24 hours, out of them, a Chemicals carrier ‘Clipper EOS’ left the port on Friday morning, while two more Container ships, Express Rome and Irenes Ray are expected to sail on today in the afternoon.

Cargo volume of 142,378 tonnes, comprising 107,713 tonnes imports cargo and 34,665 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 4,804 Containers (3,070 TEUs Imports and 1,734 TEUs export), was handled at the port during last 24 hours. Three ships, CMA CGM Rigoletto, Xpress Bardsey and Indigo Spica carrying Containers and Coal are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and Electric Terminal respectively on Friday, 15th October, while two more Container ships, Maersk Jalan and Diyala are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Saturday, 16th October-2021.
