KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 110,948 tonnes of cargo comprising 92,524 tonnes of import cargo and 18,424 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 92,524 comprised of 10,288 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 6,646 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 15,240 tonnes of DAP, 6,710 tonnes of Rock Phosphate, 320 tonnes of Sugar, 16,913 tonnes of Wheat and 36,407 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 18,424 tonnes comprised of 10,891 tonnes of containerized cargo, 147 tonnes of Bulk Cargo and 7,386 tonnes of Bulk Cement.

Approximately, 1493 containers comprising of 667 containers import and 836 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 271 of 20’s and 182 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 11 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 248 of 20’s and 234 of 40’s loaded containers while 100 of 20’s and 10 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours. Around 05 ships namely, Asteris, Evridili, Ivy Ocean, Arawana and Dongli have berth at Karachi Port.

Nearly 05 ships namely, GSL Valerie, Al Soor II, Elim Peace, M.T Quetta and Adventure have sailed out from Karachi Port on the same day.

As many as 04 cargoes namely, APL California, SSL BARAHMAPUTRA, Clemens Schulte and Uranus were expected to arrive.

PORT QASIM

A total of 10 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them, four ships, MSC Charleston, Gennaro Ievoli, Oak Spirit and Nemo left the port on Thursday morning, while three more ships, Serene Theodora, Pilion and African Spoon Bill are expected to sail on today in the afternoon .

A cargo volume of 184,457 tonnes, comprising 132,462 tonnes imports cargo and 51,995 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 2,279 Containers (55 TEUs Imports and 2,224 TEUs export), was handled at the port during last 24 hours . Four ships, Maersk Nile, Sunny Lynx, Great Century and Sky Fall carrying Containers, Gas oil and Coal are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Oil Terminal, Bulk Terminal and Huang Fuyun Terminal respectively on Thursday, 21st October, while two more Container ships, Mozart and APL California are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Friday, 22nd October-2021.
