Jan-Jun WHT collection soars 54.7pc YoY
ISLAMABAD: The withholding tax collection from salaried class showed an extraordinary increase of 54.7 percent during January-June (2024-25) against same period of 2023-24.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) data revealed that the salaried class contributed Rs214.2 billion (under section 149 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001) during the second half of 2024-25. The FBR Monday released Biannual Review (second half 2024-25) after a delay of six months.
According to the FBR’s data, the withholding tax collection from contracts under section 153 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001) showed an increase of 39 percent during this period.
The withholding tax collection from imports under section 148 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001) witnessed an increase of 10.9 percent during January-June (2024-25)
The withholding tax collection from telephone, under section 235 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001, showed an increase of 24.1 percent during January-June (2024-25).
The withholding tax collection from exports, under section 236 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001, showed an increase of 23.5 percent during January-June (2024-25).—SOHAIL SARFRAZ
