KARACHI: As many as 4253 candidates including 136 women and 181 minority applicants were recruited as constables in Sindh Police during 2016.

For the total 5177 vacant posts, the provincial police department received some 68527 applications from 14 districts of Sindh; of them 4253 candidates were finally recruited after they fulfilled merit and eligibility criteria through IBA and National Testing System (NTS).

A Sindh Police Spokesman said that AIG Establishment Naeem Ahmad Shaikh gave a comprehensive briefing to IG Sindh Allah Dino Khwaja on the entire recruitment process.

He said 16686 aspirants had submitted applications for total 1195 vacant post in Sukkur range; similarly some 22540 appeared in tests for the total 1935 vacant slots in Larkana range, whereas some 19059 candidates appeared in exams for 1287 vacant posts in Shaheed Benazir Abad range. 10242 aspirants appeared in the test for 760 vacancies in Mirpur Khas range.

He said some 749 candidates were named in the waiting list.

IG Sindh police appreciated the relevant officials for ensuring transparency and neutrality in the entire recruitment process. He said he would provide opportunities for waiting candidates in other police units.
