LAHORE: Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin and District Coordination Officer Lahore Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi jointly chaired a meeting in connection with prices of essential commodities and Sunday bazaars here on Monday.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Collector (Revenue), Assistant Commissioners, Price Control Magistrates, Secretary Market Committee, TMOs and other officials concerned, disclosed an official.

While addressing the officers, the Minister said officers should forthwith implement all directions issued by Chief Minister Punjab to curb artificial price hike and hoarding of some essential items. He also directed to check weights and measures in bazaars and to ensure pasting of rates list of essential commodities on prominent place of shop on daily basis.

The DCO Lahore said it is the top most priority of City District Government Lahore (CDGL) to provide essential commodities on fixed rate to the citizens and CDGL would utilize all its resources to ensure sale of essential items in open market on fixed rates. He directed the officials concerned to eliminate artificial hoarding and price hike of essential commodities and to remain in markets at the time of their auction. “There will be no tolerance on the sale of sub-standard, poor quality of essential commodities. Assistant Commissioners is responsible of the performance of Price Control magistrates, falling in his/her jurisdiction,” he added.
