QUETTA: The Pakhtunkhawa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) and National Party (NP) have decided to form a joint panel to contest elections for Mayor and Deputy Mayor Quetta.

Political sources said on Friday that a meeting of the two parties was held with NP provincial president, Dr Yaseen Baloch in chair that was attended by PkMAP leader including Usman Khan Kakar, Abdul Qadir Agha, Ahmed Jan, Khoshhal Khan Kasi and NP leaders - Niaz Ahmed Baloch and Aslam Baloch reached consensus to form a joint panel to contest elections for Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Metropolitan Corporation Quetta.

“The NP councilors will vote for PkMAP candidates for Mayor and Deputy Mayor Quetta while independent councilors will also be approached in this regard,” they said.

It is mentioned that there were reports of alleged horse trading of independent councilors, however, most of them denied it and said that they would vote for their favourite candidates for the offices of Mayor and Deputy Mayor Quetta without getting any financial benefit.—APP
