Negotiations in Washington in February

BISHKEK: The negotiations on CASA-1000 project will be held in Washington in February, Director General of the National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan Company Medetbek Aitkulov said here on Friday.

According to him, earlier on, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Afghanistan made an agreement within the project to conduct procurements for the construction of new power transmission lines with regard to opinion of all participation.

“The parties will meet and decide where to purchase the equipment. Each country won’t decide by itself which equipment is to be installed,” Medetbek Aitkulov explained.

He added that power engineers are going to sign final agreements on price and volume of electricity exports at the meeting in Washington.

CASA-1000 project provides for export of excess electricity in summer from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan.—INP
