Commanders take stock of situation

RAWALPINDI: 175th Corps Commanders’ Conference was held at General Headquarters on Wednesday (today). General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) presided over the conference. Matters of professional interest were discussed during the meeting. A detailed briefing was given to the participants on internal and external security situation of the country.

Reviewing Operation Zarb-e-Azb, General Sharif expressed his complete satisfaction on the progress of the Operation, and lauded the successes made so far.

The forum paid rich tributes to all participating officers and men as well as sacrifices rendered by them during the ongoing operation.—PR

INP adds: According to reports, the Corps Commanders meeting also discussed the security pact signed between the newly-elected Afghan administration and the United States.

On Tuesday, Afghan officials and the US signed a long-delayed security agreement to allow American troops to stay in Afghanistan after the end of the year.

NNI adds: Chief of Army Staff Gen. Raheel Sharif has said that the conclusion of Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) between Kabul and Washington was ‘a good move for durable peace in Afghanistan’.

The Afghan media reported that Gen. Raheel Sharif also reviewed the signing of Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) between new elected Afghan government administration and the United States with the military commanders.
