hearing adjourned sine die

RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned for an indefinite period the hearing of federation’s plea against the removal of former army chief and President Pervez Musharraf’s name from Exit Control List (ECL).

On June 12, the Sindh High Court (SHC) announced its reserved judgment on the ECL case and a division bench removed Pervez Musharraf’s name from the list, but suspended its own order for two weeks with a view to giving the government an opportunity to file an appeal against the judgment in the Supreme Court.

The federal government challenged the SHC verdict in the apex court. On September 30, Musharraf’s counsel, Dr. Farogh Nasim moved the Supreme Court for adjournment of the case on grounds of his engagement before a special bench conducting the trial of his client in a treason case.

On Wednesday, a five-member bench led by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk accepted the plea of Musharraf’s counsel and adjourned the hearing of the ECL matter for an indefinite period.
