RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday vowed to continue the ongoing sit-in at D-Chowk till his last breath. He thanked Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri and his party activists for staging a 70-day long sit-in.

The PTI chief while addressing his party workers at D-Chowk praised PAT workers for bravely facing the police crackdown. He regretted that PAT had ended its sit-in.

The PTI chief said that Dr Qadri’s goals were different from that of PTI. “PAT wanted justice for the killing of its innocent workers and PTI was against rigging in general elections 2013. I congratulate Dr Qadri and PAT for creating awareness among the masses,” he added.

PTI chief said that there was neither any London plan nor a third umpire. “I had raised my finger towards Allah Almighty,” he said.

Imran said: “PTI’s core committee asked me how long the sit-in will continue in Islamabad if Prime Minister Sharif did not resign, to which I replied that I will not move away without the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.”

He said that he would not end his sit-in as long as he is alive without achieving his goals.

Imran vowed that he would stay at D-Chowk, even if the party ran short of funds. The workers might return to their homes but he will stay at D-Chowk in a small tent, he added.

The PTI chief lamented that the current rulers were plundering and looting national wealth.

Imran further said that he would continue exposing the rulers through the sit-in and will compel Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and all others to declare their assets. He said that he would call off the sit-in if Nawaz Sharif declared his assets honestly.

The PTI chief said that former president Asif Ali Zardari did not construct dams in his tenure because he wanted to have commissions on different power projects. “Hydel power is the cheapest source of power generation. It will cost Rs 2 per unit in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the KP government is establishing 350 Hydel project in the province which are environment-friendly unlike coal-based projects,” he added.

He said that due to PTI sit-in, government did not increase power tariff. Imran said that his party would hold a public meeting in Gujraat tomorrow wherein he will inform people about some important issues.

Imran said that the status quo parties have no vision to increase revenue collections, rather debt is increasing day by day. He dubbed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardar as biggest tax evaders of the country.

He said that PTI would change the format of the sit-in during Muharram.

“Laborers are not being given even the minimum wage of Rs 12,000,” he added. He claimed that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had transferred Rs 124 billion from EOBI to other heads of accounts.

He said that PTI will move the court against TV fee in electricity bill. “Rs 10 billion is annually collected through PTV license fee, where this money is going,” he said.
