LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that revolutionary programme has been evolved for the welfare and provision of job opportunities to the youth.

He was talking to Punjab Assembly members of various districts who met him here on Wednesday, disclosed an official. He said an effective strategy has been adopted for the creation of thousands of new job opportunities every year in the province. “Self employment scheme has been started for unemployed youth under which vehicles will be provided to them on soft terms. Fifty thousand vehicles will be given to the youth under ‘Apna Rozgar Scheme’ and a highly transparent system has been devised for this purpose,” he added.

According to him, the process of provision of interest free loans to the youth is also continuing enabling them to set up their own business and thousands of youth have benefited from this scheme so far. Measures have also been taken for the promotion of education in the province and educational opportunities are being provided to the talented students of the poorest families through Daanish schools and educational scholarships.

Shahbaz Sharif said that quality education is being provided free of cost to the children of backward areas and important element of the educational programmes of the government is that brilliant students of Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and other provinces have also been included in these schemes which is promoting national unity. Scope of skills development programme in six districts of south Punjab will be extended with the cooperation of British Department of International Development (DFID) is being extended to all districts of the province,” he added.

Shahbaz said those who are involved in politics of protests and sit-ins should learn lesson from the failure of the sit-ins.
