Pakistan lodges protest with India

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday lodged protest with the India over the unprovoked firing and mortar shelling by the Indian troops in the Pandu sector across the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday.

“The government of Pakistan has lodged protest with the government of India through diplomatic channels over the unprovoked firing and mortar shelling by the India forces in the Pandu sector across the Line of Control, yesterday, in which a soldier of the Pakistan Army, Sepoy Zahid Ali, embraced martyrdom due to multiple mortar splinter injuries,” said Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam.

Condemning the incident, she said that Pakistan called upon India to restrain its security forces from unprovoked firing and shelling across the LoC and the Working Boundary.

The spokesperson said the government of Pakistan offered its condolences to the bereaved family of the martyr soldier.

The incident of firing took

hours after the Foreign Office spokesperson updated the media on the latest situation at the Working Boundary and LoC in the weekly press briefing on Thursday, saying “we have not heard of any sustained violations by India [in the recent days]”.
