KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 305,769 tonnes of cargo comprising 160,694 tonnes of import cargo and 145,075 tonnes of export cargo including 7,253 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 160,694 tonnes comprised of 54,934 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,985 tonnes of general cargo; 21,999 tonnes of bulk cargo: 19,522 tonnes of coal; 2,477 tonnes of steel scrap and 72,776 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 145,075 tonnes comprised of 83,930 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,006 tonnes of general cargo; 17,216 tonnes of bulk cargo: 14,112 tonnes of coal; 3,104 tonnes of steel scrap and 40,863 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 7,253 containers comprising of 2,944 containers import and 4,309 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,944 of 20’s and 783 of 40’s loaded while 10 of 20’s and 106 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 315 of 20’s and 146 of 40’s loaded containers while 812 of 20’s and 1,445 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were ten ships namely X-Press Makalu, Prosper, Balbina, Kota Lambah, CMA CGM Verginia, Bold World, MT Lahore, Falcon Royal, Morning Conductor and IVS Crimson Creek carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were eleven vessels viz. CMA CGM Verginia, Northern Dependant, Prosper, Balbina, KMTC Mumbai, OOCL Panama, Bold World, MT Quetta, Al Mahboobah, Morning Conductor and Expert carrying containers, oil tankers, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There were four ships namely KMTC Mumbai, OOCL Panama, Genuine Galaxy and Expert carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday.

There were three vessels viz. Sima Giselle, APJ Shirin and SFA Marter-IV carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Thursday while twelve vessels viz. MSC India, Sabya, CMA CGM Rossini, Thuringa, Rodo Schulte, Serser, MT Al-Soor-II, Linus-P, Orient Lotus, Stolt Lotus, Han Gloria and Noble SW carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, white spirit and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 112,025 tonnes comprising 75,260 tonnes of import cargo and 36,765 tonnes of export cargo including 2,364 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 75,260 tonnes includes 32,600 tonnes of diesel oil; 17,800 tonnes of palm oil; 3,400 tonnes of soyabean; 3,505 tonnes of coal; 9,804 tonnes of chemical and 8,151 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 36,765 tonnes includes 36,765 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,364 containers comprising of 429 containers import and 1,935 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were two ships namely CV APL Maimi and MT Al-Salam-II carrying containers and diesel oil sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely MV Southern Ibis, MV Otto-H and MT Bunga Aster carrying chemical and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eight vessels viz. CV APL Maimi, CV Maersk Atlanta, MV Friendly Seas, MV Southern Ibis, MV Otto-H, MV Sakizaya Diaono, MT Al-Salam-II and MT Bunga Aster currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as twenty-one ships namely MV BBC Ursa, MV Da De, MV CS Fortune, MV Bow Segmi, MV Leto, MV Star Trader, MV Yang Ze LO, MV Golden Catharine, MV Nautical Alice, MV Eternal Trump, MT Maria-II, MT White Pearl, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Bahra, MT Harman, MT Jag Lavanya, MT Shalamar, MT Lion-M, MT Grand Ace-12, MT Cypress Galaxy and MT Rainbow Island carrying general cargo, steel product, soyabean, canola seeds, coal, cement, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six vessels viz. CV MSC Valencia, CV CMA CGM Maupasant, MV CS Fortune, MV Bow Segmi, MT Maria-II and MT Lion-M carrying containers, steel product, soyabean, LPG and furnace oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were four ships namely CV MSC Valencia, CV CMA CGM Maupasant, CV CMA CGM Rossini and CV Nicoline Maersk carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Thursday.

There are two ships namely CV Tucapel and CV Maersk Izmir carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
