LAHORE: Former Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry died on Friday in London.

Chaudhry died of a sudden heart attack. His body will be brought home.

He spent most of his time in London after his retirement where he underwent an open heart surgery a few years ago.

He passed his LL.B.in 1970 and worked with his elder brother, Chaudhry Altaf Hussain, who became Punjab Governor twice.

He remained federal government’s counsel, standing counsel and deputy attorney general prior to his elevation as additional judge of the Lahore High Court on August 7, 1994.

He was appointed as a permanent judge on June 5, 1995 and took oath as the 36th Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court on September 7, 2002 and then remained in the office till December 31, 2007.
