KARACHI: A Mixed trend was witnessed on the money market on Monday as the rupee played both sides in process of trading, dealers said.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: The rupee picked up three paisa in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 101.80 and Rs 101.83, dealers said.

OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee, however, shed it's value versus the dollar, shedding 20 paisa for buying at Rs 102.80 and it also fell by Rs 10 to Rs 101.82, the rupee rose by 50 paisa in terms of the euro for buying and selling at Rs 113.50 and Rs 114.50, they said.

In the first Asian trade, the euro was off its session lows but still sharply down on the day in Asian trading after Greece failed to strike a deal with its lenders, taking it a step closer to a debt default that could force its exit from the euro zone.

The euro fell to a one-month low of $1.0955 on the EBS trading platform, from around $1.1165 late on Friday. It had last recovered to $1.1016, still down about 1.3 percent on the day.

The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 63.64, the greenback was at 3.7795 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 6.2085.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee remained weak and marginally declined by five-paisa for buying and selling at Rs 102.65 and Rs 102.90 against the last week closing of Rs 102.60 and Rs 102.85. It remained under pressure and depreciated against the pound sterling that was traded at Rs 160.75 and Rs 161.00 on buying and selling counter compared with the last Saturday closing of Rs 160.60 and Rs 160.85.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Monday.

The dollar opened at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling).

Pound Sterling opened at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling).
