HYDERABAD: The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sindh, Prof Dr Abida Taherani has said that the efforts are being made to promote a research culture on the campus.

She said that research must not only be an essential requirement for teachers but also for students.

Talking to the officials of the university at the inaugural ceremony of fountain at Allama I.I Kazi Chawk, Zero Point and Mrs Elsa Kazi Lawn outside Arts Faculty Building here on Monday.

She said that all sources were being utilized to produce more PhDs at Sindh University.

Emphasizing upon the quality of research programmes, Dr Taherani mentioned that as per the HEC initiatives PhD thesis of candidates registered with the SU were sent for evaluation to researchers and scholars based in institutions of repute in countries other than Pakistan, mainly European and American.

She said that the university would be made green coupled with trees and plants, adding that more lawns and parks will be prepared on the campus for safe environment. Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor Dr Abida Taherani inaugurated the fountain installed at Allama I.I Kazi Chawk and Mrs Elsa Kazi Lawn situated at Arts Faculty Building.
