RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: The Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PITAF) has urged the premier to resolve the controversial withholding tax case and earned that the current squeal of strikes could have a negative impact the national economy.

Front Chairman Irfan Iqbal Sheikh said, “The different tax ratios, including the general sales tax, are already high while the tax levy will further put traders in trouble who are the backbone of the economy. This levy on banks transactions will force people, in general, and traders, in particular, to make cash-based transactions that in turn could cause a loss to the revenue collection.”

Senior Vice Chairman Tanveer Ahmed Sufi said, “Businessmen are not against the taxes but the government should bring new people into the tax net rather than burdening the existing taxpayers.
